Our client is a leader in environmental, engineering and management consulting with a proven track record spanning over 120 years. With over three and half thousand employees globally covering a wide spectrum of technical knowledge and experience, their consulting services focus on the broad field of the interaction between people and the environment. 

We are looking for a Senior Consultant to provide contaminated land expertise and advice within our client's advice and business groups. The principal focus will be to lead the contaminated land team and to develop and market skills and resources, as appropriate. This position offers enormous opportunities for the successful candidate to develop their own skills and to advance technically within this rapidly expanding market leader. We are looking for a proven scientist who can work well within project and technical teams (including mentoring less experienced staff) and who is able to individually develop their own leads and promote rewarding business development. Key responsibilities will include:

• Senior level support and the provision of technical excellence, as required, to the environment team.
• Contribution to project work (UK and overseas), to include report writing, field work supervision, organisation, consultation and project management.
• Management of complex projects including the management of the project team.
• Remaining up to date with policy and legislative developments in a range of sectors.
• Presenting in both external and internal arenas.
• Business development and proposal writing as appropriate. Promote the company’s activities in environmental services and own particular specialism, generate enquiries, contribute to relevant marketing activities and other areas as directed.
• Effectively use (with training) company Quality Management procedures.
  

Your background should ideally demonstrate the following:-

• Experience in environmental consultancy/regulation or related discipline with a preferential emphasis on the contaminated land environment.
• Knowledge of the environmental market and proven ability to foster and win new projects is essential including proven experience of coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrate a good knowledge and experience of the regulatory and legislative system, with experience in project managing medium to large projects.
