Our client has now passed the 4000MW milestone and their enviable track record in project delivery has given them a reputation for excellence that is second to none.
Our client has a dedicated offshore development, engineering, construction and operations team which has successfully participated in UK Rounds 1 and 2 and which they are expanding to meet the future opportunities in the UK and European offshore wind and marine renewables sector.
Working within the Offshore Development Team the successful candidate will coordinate and take responsibility for grid connection matters throughout the development and pre-construction phases of offshore wind and marine renewables projects, including:
• Develop grid connection options and strategies for offshore wind and marine renewable energy projects.
• Specify and manage the work of consultants and subcontractors in support of grid connection strategies and connection designs.
• Submit and progress connection applications and analyse the resulting offers.
• Negotiate with network operators and OFTOs on technical requirements.
• Manage the timing of grid negotiations for individual projects to minimise commercial and technical risks.
• Maintain an understanding of the long term development plans of the network operators and advise on connection strategies.
• Provide an in-house expertise on regulatory and commercial issues and advise on how these may impact on the business and its client’s projects.
• Establish position on regulatory, commercial and market issues and prepare consultation responses.
• Input to the Environmental Impact Statement and consenting during the development phase.
• Provide support to the Engineering and Construction Teams during pre-construction and construction phases.
This role would suit a degree qualified electrical engineer, or equivalent with proven technical and commercial experience of the management of generation system grid connections at a distribution or transmission level. Knowledge of the offshore sector and/or the wind industry are not essential but would be advantageous.
The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate that they have the following capabilities:
• Knowledge of UK grid connection regulations and legislation including the forthcoming OFTO arrangements.
• Excellent communication skills including report writing, presentation and the ability to speak confidently with clients, consultants, contractors and stakeholders.
• The ability to share knowledge between projects and departments.
• The ability to manage workload and meet demanding timescales on a number of projects simultaneously.
• Travel will be required
The following attributes are desirable:
• Proven experience of offshore wind and/or marine renewable energy projects
• Project management skills.
• Chartered status in a relevant engineering institution.
