International Waste Specialist

Job Profile

They seek an International Waste Specialist. Deployed within our existing waste management team and working closely with our Regional Business Development Managers, the successful candidate will help identify and pursue new business opportunities in the waste management sector. This will involve close liaison with our existing technical teams and with local MM offices and other potential local partners to develop strategies and build teams for winning and delivering projects.

The successful candidate will be required to identify, develop and secure international waste projects in a growing market with an increasing number of opportunities to be pursued. This will entail building delivery teams from our existing staff resource and from local business partners to provide a basis for successful project delivery. The job will require business development and proposal writing which will be underpinned by technical expertise, commercial acumen and experience of working in this sector with international consultants and government organisations. The position will be based in the UK but it will involve frequent travel and potential for overseas project inputs of several months duration.

The Candidate
  • A proven track record in the field of solid waste management.
  • Professional qualifications in civil engineering, environmental sciences or other related disciplines.
  • Further specialist qualifications in solid waste management.
  • Significant relevant commercial experience, primarily gained in the international, IFI funded sector.
  • Experience in environmental project management and planning with a strong emphasis on waste issues is essential including:
    • municipal and hazardous waste management and treatment
    • waste management logistics
    • design and construction of waste handling/transfer infrastructure
    • landfill design and construction
  • Experience in the development of waste management concepts and strategies combined with institutional building and capacity strengthening will also be advantageous.
