Health & Safety Manager

Our client is one of the world's leading renewable energy developers. Drawing on decades of experience in the renewable energy and construction industries, they have the expertise to develop, construct and operate large-scale wind farms of outstanding quality. They have now passed the 4000MW milestone and their enviable track record in project delivery has given them a reputation for excellence that is second to none.

Reporting to the Construction Director on all health and safety matters, the successful applicant will have proven experience in development, supervision, continuous improvement and compliance enforcement of an effective safety management system,  across several projects in construction and operational environments.

Specialist knowledge in relation to lifting operations and electrical systems (including HV) is a distinct advantage, as is the ability to provide guidance on risk assessments and support, training and advice to staff on safety matters. Demonstration of evidence of effective auditing and accident investigation is also required. 
The Successful applicant will have the ability to work independently, with the flexibility to travel to sites across the UK and Ireland from the company headquarters in Hertfordshire (typically 5 to 10 days per month) being essential.


The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following attributes:-


• Demonstrate proven Health & Safety experience working on new build large scale construction projects. Related civil, electrical (including HV) and mechanical engineering safety experience would be advantageous.
• Have a recognised safety qualification (minimum of NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent) and hold corporate membership of a British safety institution (e.g CMIOSH).
• Be willing to travel throughout the UK & Ireland.
• Have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate and influence at all levels, both within the organisation and externally with clients, suppliers, trade bodies, etc.
• Preferably have a knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001.
• Have good  IT and information systems (IS) skills.
