Our client is one of the world’s leading renewable energy companies. In addition to the UK and Ireland we currently operate in the US, Canada, France, Scandinavia and Australia. Their companies are involved in wind farm development, engineering, construction, operation and maintenance together with sustainable building design and the provision of a range of renewable energy solutions and consultancy. Continuing growth means that we wish to recruit an environment professional reporting to the Group HSQE Manager.
The Role
- Continuous development of the Company’s environment management system including support to Group and affiliate companies.
- Support to Group companies to extend and maintain third party certification as appropriate to the business.
- Develop and execute an internal audit programme.
- Compile reports for management review
- Support to UK offices advising on energy, waste and environment performance and compliance.
- Monitor the implementation of improvement/ remedial actions.
- Provide support, training and advice to staff on environment matters
- Undertake and support investigations where necessary
The Person
The successful candidate will:-
- Require a sound knowledge of UK environment legislation, standards and best practice.
- Have proven experience developing and implementing environment management systems in both an office and construction and/or engineering environment.
- Have a recognised environment qualification (minimum of NVQ level 4 or equivalent).
- Be chartered, or hold full professional membership of IEMA or an equivalent organisation.
- Have sound knowledge of the ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 Standards.
- Hold an approved Lead Auditor certificate (e.g. through IEMA).
- Hold a full clean UK driving licence.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate and influence at all levels both within the organisation and externally with clients, suppliers, trade bodies, etc.
- Need to travel to our offices, construction sites, partners and suppliers (approximately 3 - 5 days per month both in the UK and occasionally overseas).
- Have good IT, information systems and numeracy skills.
- Have financial and commercial awareness relating to the impact of environment management.
