The CEO will provide full operational technology and engineering leadership at the Site level with a team of about 10 functional leaders as well as 1000 employees, setting & implementing policies and standards; initiating various operational and profit improvement programs and influencing the site level leadership team to strive for performance and productivity improvement. The position will report to the Manufacturing Leadership Council and will have full accountability for operations and other allied functions in the site viz. HS&E, Engineering and Maintenance Technology, Minor Projects, IT; HR and talent development. The CEO role will be ably supported by Corporate Centers of Excellence in the respective functions for continuous infusion of best practice. This is a multi-faceted role that requires a background in operations as well as broad manufacturing technology and engineering best practice implementation. The priorities of the role are: 1) Implementation of all corporate management systems, standards and processes in the site to ensure efficiency consistent throughput and reliable operations. 2) Implementing corporate HSE procedures and inculcate an innate safety focus that becomes integral to the culture of the site operations. 3) Put in place a Continuous Improvement framework that is understood and practiced on a sustained and consistent basis 4) Build a framework to ensure that leadership, managerial and engineering talent is developed consistently and considered a priority within the site. 5) Drive the Manufacturing Business Transformation initiative that is being undertaken and facilitate this change management. 6) Provide thought leadership to ensure functional excellence and integration in all. 7) Establish a culture of manufacturing excellence in the site that is at par with the best in the world. CANDIDATE PROFILE The CEO will have been an acclaimed knowledge manufacturing leader focused on creating world-scale and world-class assets, and establishing high reliability manufacturing operations, involving hazardous materials. The successful candidate should have lead and managed the functional and operations integration of a manufacturing site(s), of a similar large scale and complexity, and upgrading them to world class operations. He will be largely aware of emerging developments in engineering technologies and will be able to provide advice on measures required for maintaining asset competitiveness. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering and may also have additional Post Graduation Degree in the same function and/or MBA from reputed school. At least 25 years of experience in a very large Petroleum/ Petrochemical complex. The core competencies for the position include:- Manufacturing and Engineering Competence: The ideal candidate will have provided leadership to a similar scale of engineers in refining and/or petrochemical resulting in long-term health, sustainability and competitiveness of the engineering community. This is an executive who has developed, through taking on increasingly more responsible manufacturing roles including operating technology, safety and talent development on the road to becoming the Chief of Site. He will have also created mechanisms to competence and development of engineers. Ability to Lead Transformational Change: Leading by example and demonstrating high personal energy, drive and influence in every interaction the ideal candidate will have the ability to energize and motivate the organization around change and optimization objectives as well as around the day-to-day execution of operational improvement and employee engagement and development activities, The successful candidate must have the personal edge to make the tough decisions to push back when appropriate, and the ability to secure the necessary internal and external resources to ensure commitments are met. This will be built on a credibility formed across the organization based on operational capability and leadership. He will be comfortable in freshly building organizational processes and standards where needed, versus implementing or augmenting existing practices. This person will be able to gain respect quickly and this will be through an ability to focus and build consensus through strong communication skills that result in not just providing a free flow of communication, but putting in place a team o f environment where people feel free to discuss all and any issues. Operational Excellence and Integrity Management: The ideal candidate will have set and implemented standards and common processes for the management of operations and maintenance, and ensured existence of continuous improvement initiatives to bring performance to best-in-class levels of safety, environmental performance, reliability and integrity. External / Internal Relationship and Influencing Skills: In order to present needs and capabilities to the industry (contractors and suppliers), the profession and potential recruits; promote and/or defend Company position in various forums; familiarity with, and access to experts in academia and industry to address new engineering and operational challenges and/or tackle critical investigations; interface with the regulatory/ standard setting bodies, the CEO will have the ability to rapidly build constructive working relationships in diverse cultures across the organisations and with external organization and stake holders with a presence and presentational style to match the position. Results orientation: The CEO will have a track record of delivering results through an ability to drive continuous improvement within the site. He will have demonstrated an ability to build a capability to perform in both growth and retrenchment environments. COMPENSATION Compensation will be highly competitive commensurate with the seniority and importance attached to this position.
