Our client, a global engineering, environmental and management consultancy is leading the market in renewable energy solutions. Due to rapid growth in this sector we are seeking the following profile:

The senior projects manager will be responsible for the management and delivery of energy projects for Irelands leading energy services company.  Energy projects will include industrial utilities (steam, hot water, chilled water, compressed air), industrial biomass, commercial building energy management, combined heat and power, renewable built environment and district heating.  Scope of the energy projects will range from greenfield site development (design, build, finance, operate & maintain), to existing infrastructure upgrade projects (refurbishment, operate & maintain).

The role of the senior projects manager will be to lead projects from a commercial, contractual, financial, and technical perspective to include the identification, analysis, specification, design review, costing, implementation, project management and commissioning of energy projects.  This will require a thorough understanding of the risks, revenue streams, technical and efficiency drivers, costs and client requirements, such that the project is developed and delivered within budget, schedule constraints and meeting the quality expectations of our client and its partners.  The senior project manger will develop relationships with, and be highly effective at communicating with clients at all levels.

The senior projects manager will have a proven track record of being self directed and with excellent leadership skills.  The successful candidate will have a strong technical background and an understanding of energy conversion, energy efficiency and operation and maintenance.  The candidate will also have a proven ability to lead, motivate and direct teams towards a common goal.

The senior project manager will also work with the technical director and the energy team in the development and innovation in the strategy for the growth of the energy offering from our client, including lobbying with outside bodies to influence policy.  He/she will work closely with business development and Dalkia operations teams to co-ordinate a comprehensive offering and project delivery which maximises client benefit and which maintains profitability.

The senior project manager will have responsibility to develop relationships with turnkey contractors and equipment suppliers for the delivery of energy projects.

Educational / Technical Requirements:

Essential:

• Engineering Degree, and/or business qualification, or equivalent
• Proven track record in project management and project financial appraisal
• Ability to develop and specify engineering solutions

Desirable:

• Knowledge of boiler plant, compressed air and refrigeration systems
• Knowledge of energy efficient and renewable technologies

Essential:

• Previous experience in a senior development role
• Experience of managing and interacting with Clients
• Experience of managing and leading a team
• Strong analytical skills
• Highly contractual and commercially aware
• Thorough understanding of energy markets, policies and support mechanisms
• Development of project time plans and costs
• Identification of energy savings opportunities
• Capital cost development experience
• Previous experience working to tight deadlines
