Technical Director - Infrastructure and Buildings

Job description
We need to appoint a Technical Director to deepen our local technical expertise, and to underpin further growth. This is a technical role and the post holder will sit alongside the line management structure, providing support to the whole team as required.

 

The role will encompass providing technical input to project proposals, undertaking the role of Review Engineer on projects which will include in particular the development of project appraisals with particular reference to option selection, site investigation, risk assessment and value management.

 

There will also be a significant involvement in the development of detailed designs and construction specifications.

 

The Technical Director will also act as the senior technical reviewer for the North West region in Building Structures.

 

The postholder will provide the technical focus for the region, take an active role in staff development and undertake a mentoring role for key technical staff.

 

Your profile will show the following:-

  • Worked at the forefront of technical knowledge in structural engineering
  • Fully conversant with current and emerging codes of practice, British and European Standards
  • Interested in building design and in creatively realising the ambitions of clients and their architects.
  • Familiar with environmental and sustainability issues as applied to building structures.
  • Able to work effectively and be persuasive in a multi-discipline project team

 

The ideal candidate will need the following:-

  • Good first degree in civil/structural engineering, extensive experience with another firm of Consulting
  • Engineers and Chartered status (CEng MIStructE)
  • Extensive experience of leading design teams
  • Track record in undertaking role of technical Reviewer
  • Portfolio of successfully completed building projects
